"Ecclesiastes compellingly provides a painfully honest account of life “under the sun,” inviting us to consider all of the ways that we pursue meaning and purpose and look for validation apart from the Lord. As we do so, we are invited to recognize that based on their merits apart from God, nothing in this life can provide ultimate satisfaction or validation. Rather, it is this truth that we find sprinkled throughout, and ultimately stated in 12:9-14: our relationship with the Sovereign Lord imbues everything in life with eternal weight and meaning and purpose.
