EXODUS: I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD
Who am I? Why am I here? The world is filled with those who seek to answer fundamental questions of identity utilizing something that has proven a constant across the millennia—story. The Book of Exodus is an identity story. It contains the miraculous, the mysterious, and the compellingly dramatic events of an oppressed people’s escape from slavery toward freedom. Yet, Exodus does not simply tell ancient Israel’s story. It tells ours, too. This is the story of a God who moves toward those who dwell in a sin-broken world in order to rescue and restore. This is the story of the One who delivers and dwells with his people. This is the story of the great, unchanging Redeemer. This is the story of the I AM, the Lord our God.
